Blue stakes of Utah hopes to educate and connect residents and businesses with utility companies to prevent emergencies by helping to locate underground utilities in Utah. They say to call 811 before you have to dial 911.

It is a free service and it is also the law. After you call 811, the utility owners or another third party locate company will arrive to mark where your utilities are with paint and flags so that you do not damage them while digging. There is a 24 inches barrier around the marks which you will need to avoid.

Call at least 2 full business days prior to starting your excavation project. Statistics show that there is a less than 1% chance of damage if a locate request is created. Damage prevention is a shared responsibility.

Blue Stakes began in 1974 and has been assisting people for 42 years.
